For a decade, the SAR Rescue-Timer from Mühle-Glashütte has been supporting the crews of the DGzRS rescue cruisers in their rescue trips in the North Sea and Baltic Sea. On the occasion of the anniversary, the successful watch will be fitted with a model of a special kind: the SAR Anniversary Timer in a limited edition of 2 x 250 pieces.
At sea, special challenges are placed on a watch. Therefore, the SAR Rescue-Timer was decisively influenced by the foremen of the rescue fleet of the German Society for the Rescue of Shipwrecked (DGzRS) in its development in function and design. The result of the collaboration of Mühles over 140 years of tradition in instrument building and the requirements of the sea rescue was an exceptionally robust watch, which was absolutely unique in function and design and still is: four millimeter thick sapphire glass, a water density up to 1000 meters and the shock resistant Automatic movement with the fine control of the mill keep a huge water pressure and even strong shocks. In addition, the rounded steel case with rubber bezel as well as the special position of the crown at four o'clock ensure that no shipwrecked person is injured from the water during salvage.
Even after 10 years of continuous use on the high seas, there was not much to improve with this timepiece. The SAR Anniversary-Timer is a sporting reinterpretation for the anniversary clock.
Limited special edition 2002-2012: The SAR Anniversary-Timer
The SAR Anniversary Timer is based on the virtues that also characterize the SAR Rescue Timer: absolute robustness, highest precision and the best readability. As is the case with a 10-year service anniversary, the limited edition is presented in a representative design. The sporty case with a diameter of 44 millimeters is available in two versions: stainless steel and stainless steel with a black, shock-proof DLC coating.
Both models have a noble, black glossy ceramic bezel. It makes the timers ready for any use - even outside the lake rescue. Whether it is sailing or surfing, trekking or in the office.
Like its model, the SAR Anniversary Timer is equipped with the shock-resistant ball control of the mill and is waterproof up to 1000 meters. The dials of each version were designed to match the case. The black case is dominated by red indices and hands, while the silver version is characterized by white hands and hour markers. In terms of readability, both models go ahead with a brilliant example - thanks to extremely luminescent pointers, numerals and indices and the distinctive position triangles, which are clearly borrowed from the requirements of sea rescue. This means that the time can also be seen at a glance at night and at high waves.
The signal-colored red of the DGzRS rescue personnel, which is reflected both in the dial design and in the lunette protuberances, Completes the design of this sporty timepiece and makes it clear what it represents: a reminiscence of a successful timepiece, which has proven itself for 10 years under the most severe conditions. And a big thank you to the operational staff of the DGzRS who, with their maritime experience, have made the SAR timepieces of Mühle-Glashütte possible.
